Aldar Xelîl: Leader Öcalan’s calls helped keep the region away from chaos and war

The Democratic Union Party (PYD) organized a meeting to discuss political and military developments in the region. The meeting in the village of Ezîziyê in Dirbesiye saw the participation of many citizens, representatives of city councils, civil society organizations, local councils, youth and women’s movements, political parties, tribal leaders, writers and intellectuals.

The meeting took place within the framework of ongoing discussions among political and social forces in the cities of North and East Syria.

Addressing the participants, PYD Co-Presidential Council member Aldar Xelîl evaluated the political developments in the region and the process of the Rojava Revolution that began on July 19, 2012. He emphasized that the PYD has dedicated itself to the method of the democratic nation and is working to establish a democratic system in North and East Syria.

Speaking about the complex situation in the region, Aldar Xelîl stated that the Middle East is in the midst of political and regional rivalries. He said that Kurdish forces in North and East Syria are striving to develop coexistence among local administrations and to create a governance model based on equality.

Referring to the day when the regional forces confronted ISIS groups, he noted that this phase marked an important turning point for the region both politically and militarily.

Speaking about the rapid developments in the Middle East, Xelîl said that the region is going through a new phase of conflict and turmoil. He stated that Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan’s calls have helped keep the region away from chaos and war.

The PYD politician stressed that political forces in North and East Syria continue their efforts with other parties regarding dialogue, the implementation of agreements and mutual understandings, aiming to preserve stability in the region.
