The Alliance of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan, which was established in late February, issued a written statement regarding the developments in Iran.
The statement, titled “The people of Kurdistan who struggle and demand their rights,” reads as follows:
“Since Saturday, the course of events in Iran has been moving toward a profound and fundamental change. The current war is the result of the regime’s aggressive policies, its interference in the internal affairs of regional countries, its support for state terrorism, its insistence on acquiring nuclear bomb and developing its missile industry, its threat to global security, and its failure to comply with international law. As a consequence of these policies, Iran has been turned into a devastated country with a collapsed economy, leading to the regime’s disintegration. The assassination of the Iranian regime’s leader Khamenei, along with dozens of military commanders and political officials, has accelerated this impending collapse.
We, as the Alliance of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan, state that this is not a war between Iranian society and people on the one hand and the United States, Israel, and the international community on the other. In fact, this is the war of the dictatorial and repressive regime of the Islamic Republic, which has enslaved all the peoples of the country. It has deprived the Iranian people of all their rights and freedoms and, in February of this year, massacred thousands of Iranian protesters and human rights activists.
In this period, when Iran and Rojhilatê (Eastern) Kurdistan are experiencing their most decisive days, we appeal to the Kurdish people:
1- The Kurdish people must be aware of the developments, approach them consciously, organize their political actions in line with the demands and proposals of the Alliance of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan, and keep this coordination and relationship active and effective.
2- In the days of the regime’s collapse and a mass uprising of the people, all administrative and service institutions must be protected for the benefit and needs of the public.
3- We call on the regime’s armed forces in Rojhilatê Kurdistan to break from the remnants of the Islamic Republic. We emphasize that they should not miss this final opportunity to turn their backs on the enemy and stand with the cause of their people.
4- All Kurdish people must respond to the changes with wisdom and maturity and avoid individual mistakes and acts of revenge that could undermine overall social security.
5- For greater safety, we call on our people to stay as far away as possible from the regime’s military and security bases.
6- We expect our people — especially those in the trade sector, business owners, and landlords — to support one another more than ever in these difficult days, particularly tenants, the poor, and those in need, and to assist one another.
The Alliance of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan will share its policies and programs in accordance with developments through further statements.”
