PJAK: Iran’s attacks on Kurdish forces are a sign of the regime’s fear

The Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) has strongly condemned the recent Iranian attacks on the bases of East Kurdistan parties in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). In a statement issued on Monday, the party declared that the assaults were directed not only at individual organizations but at the political unity of Kurdish forces in Rojhilat (Eastern Kurdistan).

On Sunday, units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard attacked several bases in Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq) with missiles and suicide drones. Among the targets were facilities belonging to Komala, the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK), and the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDK-I) in Koye, Pirdê, Zirguêz, and Sûrdaş. At least one person was injured.

The PJAK recently joined with the PDK-I, PAK, Komala, and the Xebat Organization to form the “Alliance of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan.” Their objective is joint resistance against the religious dictatorship and advocacy for a democratic, secular Iran that guarantees the rights of all ethnic groups and religious communities.

Stating that the attacks expose Iran’s and the Revolutionary Guard’s weakness as well as their “hostile approach” toward the Kurdish people, the PJAK pointed out that: “At a time when repressive forces across Iran are the target of attacks by Israel and the United States, the regime has failed to present any rational plan or policy to resolve the problems and crises, and has turned the peoples of Iran into victims of their own demands.”

The statement continued: “There is no doubt that the attack on the parties in Rojhilat Kurdistan is clear evidence that the method employed by the regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the past 47 years has been based on repression and aggression. These aggressive actions hinder Iran’s progress toward resolving crises and achieving the freedom of its peoples and nations. For this reason, the greatest obstacle facing the Islamic Republic of Iran is itself. The regime is currently on the brink of collapse, yet it continues to pursue military solutions against the Kurdish people and Kurdish parties. It is now evident that this policy has failed. These attacks are the latest attempts by the repressive regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is currently confronted with major crises in the Middle East.”

Reaffirming that the pursuit of freedom will continue until freedom is achieved, the statement concluded: “The attacks by the Revolutionary Guard, aimed at undermining the unity and alliance of Kurdish forces — the historic aspiration of the Kurdish people — are undoubtedly a sign of the regime’s fear. However, these efforts by the regime are doomed to suffer a major defeat. The reason for our victory and our resilience lies in our unity and solidarity.”
