Leyla Qereman, Co-Chair of the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD), Hesen Mihemed Elî, Co-Chair of the MSD Relations Office, and Şêra Osê, Co-Chair of the MSD Press Office, received a delegation from Suwayda in Hesekê city.
The meeting on Thursday focused on the political developments in Syria, methods of supporting efforts to achieve stability, and ways to strengthen the political solution process.
The parties emphasized the importance of implementing the agreement signed on 29 January between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the transitional government, stressing that the agreement constitutes a fundamental step toward halting bloodshed and protecting civilians. It was pointed out that political forces in Syria must assume national responsibility and work to bring positions closer in order to pave the way for inter-Syrian dialogue.
The meeting also addressed the need to ensure the safe and dignified return of displaced persons to their regions and to end the siege imposed on Kobanê.
Discussions regarding the role of women stressed that women hold a central position in political work and that women’s rights must be guaranteed in any future constitution to be prepared for Syria.
The parties agreed that a successful constitutional process must encompass the rights of all components of Syria, safeguard the principle of equal citizenship, and reflect national, religious, and cultural pluralism.
MSD Co-Chair Leyla Qereman underlined the importance of advancing the transitional process in Syria and stressed the need to build a political system based on decentralization, pluralism, and democracy.
