On Wednesday, representatives of Mezzaluna Rossa Kurdistan Italia ETS, the Italian partner organization of the Kurdish Red Crescent, met with Vice President Mia Diop at the Regione Toscana.
Speaking on behalf of Mezzaluna Rossa Kurdistan Italia, President Alican Yildiz, and Erdal Karabey, member of the Kurdish community in Tuscany, presented a humanitarian appeal together with two detailed dossiers:
– “War Crimes in North-East Syria” prepared by the Academy of Jineolojî in Rojava;
– “Kurdish Population Under Attack – Rojava / Northern Syria – January 2026” by the Kurdish Red Crescent.
The reports document the dramatic situation in Rojava, including attacks on Kurdish neighborhoods in Aleppo and the ongoing siege of Kobane, as well as broader humanitarian and socio-medical consequences affecting the civilian population in North-East Syria. Since the beginning of the year, schools have remained suspended, as hundreds of thousands of displaced people are currently sheltering inside school buildings, making it impossible for children to access education.
The representatives specifically called on the regional institutions to take action by exerting political pressure for the immediate opening of humanitarian corridors, in order to guarantee access to medical care, essential medicines, food, and basic supplies for civilians currently under siege.

Particular attention was also dedicated to the growing threat posed by ISIS fighters and their families who have reportedly been freed during the latest attacks, a development that represents a serious risk to regional stability and international security.
The meeting was constructive and productive. The Tuscan regional representatives proved receptive to the requests and expressed strong interest in continuing dialogue with the Kurdish community. They also committed to raising awareness about the events in North-East Syria within the regional institutions, with the hope of encouraging broader attention from other Italian regions and from the national government.
Mezzaluna Rossa Kurdistan Italia ETS reaffirms its commitment to supporting the people of Rojava and to advocating for urgent humanitarian and political action.
