According to information provided by local sources, a general mourning has been declared across Iran and Rojhilat (Eastern Kurdistan) for the protesters killed by Iranian state forces during the latest demonstrations.
Reports from the ground say that Iranian security forces have threatened and assaulted the families of those killed in several cities.
On the other hand, cemeteries have been closed to visitors and security forces have been deployed around them in an attempt to prevent the observance of the declared mourning.
Relatives of those killed describe the threats by Iranian security forces in videos they have shared on digital platforms.
Many people are reportedly being summoned to intelligence centers and threatened, while security forces have been stationed in front of citizens’ homes.
Since the protests began across Iran and Rojhilat on December 28, 2025 against social, political, and economic problems, thousands — and according to some sources even tens of thousands — have been killed, and tens of thousands have been detained. There are serious reports indicating that those detained and imprisoned have been subjected to inhumane torture.
