“No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign: Over 300 people executed in Iran since late January

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign was launched on January 9, 2023, to protest executions in Rojhilat Kurdistan and Iran. As part of the campaign, prisoners continue to stage hunger strikes every Tuesday to express their opposition to the death penalty.

Members of the campaign, in the 108th week of their protests, went on hunger strike in 56 different prisons across the country to once again declare their firm opposition to the machine of killing and execution.

While honoring the 40th day of the martyrs of the recent uprising and condemning the execution of over 300 people, including three women, since the beginning of Bahman (late January), the prisoners warned against the repetition of the crimes of the 1980s and the issuance of heavy sentences for protesters.

According to the statement marking the 108th week, tens of thousands of detainees from the recent protests are under pressure and torture, and plans are being made to issue death sentences and heavy prison terms for them.

Expressing deep concern over the condition of detainees and the risk of execution for protesters like Saleh Mohammadi – an 18-year-old wrestler who was arrested during the Dey protests and is facing a death sentence in Qom prison- participants in the campaign called on the people and international bodies to take immediate action in order to stop these crimes and save the lives of prisoners.
