A.K., a 12th-grade student, had shared a video and photo of herself braiding her hair as part of a campaign launched after a female fighter’s hair was cut and shared on social media during attacks on Rojava.
The prosecutor cited these posts as grounds for the charge of “making propaganda for an illegal organization.”
The Izmir 2nd Juvenile High Criminal Court accepted the indictment and scheduled the first hearing for March 3 at 3:00 p.m.
After the indictment was prepared, A.K.’s lawyers requested her release. However, the court ruled to continue her detention, citing the presence of “strong suspicion of a crime,” the fact that evidence has not yet been fully collected, and the possibility of flight or tampering with evidence.
