Talent manager Ayşe Barım was sentenced to 12 years and six months in prison for “aiding an attempt to overthrow the government of the Republic of Turkey”. The court ruled that Barım, who is receiving treatment for an illness, will remain under judicial control in the form of a ban on traveling abroad.
Barım was arrested over claims that she directed artists during the Gezi Resistance protests and was released on the 248th day of her detention. The prosecution had asked an aggravated life sentence for the crime of “attempting to overthrow the government.”
