Landmine explosion west of Deir ez-Zor leaves three dead, including two children

Three civilians, including two children, were killed by a landmine explosion as a vehicle was passing through the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

According to local sources, the explosion near the village of Qesibe killed Ehmed El Mehmûd El Meshahide, along with his unnamed daughter and his son Xalid El Mehmûd El Meshahide. The victims were reported to be from the village of Zixêr Şami.

Deadly explosions caused by remnants of war and landmines continue to occur frequently in the rural areas of Deir ez-Zor.

The fact that the region is largely agricultural and that many roads remain unpaved continues to pose a serious threat, particularly to civilians.
