A meeting is currently being held at Qamishlo International Airport between a delegation of the self-declared Syrian transitional government and the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. The aim of the talks is to assess the administrative, technical, and security-related operations at the airport and to clarify future forms of cooperation.
Among those attending the meeting are Asayish commander Mehmûd Xelîl Elî (Siyamend Efrîn), as well as Marwan al-Ali, the security chief for the Hesekê region appointed by the authorities in Damascus. Other representatives from both sides in the fields of administration and security are also participating.
According to sources familiar with the negotiations, the meeting is linked to the implementation of the agreement reached on January 29, which provides for increased coordination between the two sides. The talks are being held behind closed doors within the airport premises. No official information has yet been released regarding concrete outcomes or agreements.
