As many as 96 people were taken into custody on February 3 in an operation targeting the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP), Socialist Women’s Council (SKM), Federation of Socialist Youth Associations (SGDF), Etkin News Agency (ETHA), Shipbuilding and Maritime Transport, Stevedoring and Warehousing Workers’ Union (Limter-İş, DİSK), Polen Ecology Collective, and Foundation for Science, Education, Aesthetics, Culture and Arts Studies (BEKSAV).
On Thursday, 56 detainees were referred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan on Thursday with a demand for their arrest. Of these, 47 were remanded in custody while 9 others were released under judicial control.
40 other detainees in Istanbul were also referred to court today. The court ruled for the imprisonment of 24 of them and the release of 16 others under judicial control.
On the other hand, six people detained in Malatya and Antep within the scope of the same operation gave their statements via video conferencing system, SEGBİS. All the six detainees were also remanded in custody.
