Barrot met with Barzani

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, who yesterday met with Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and the Rojava delegation, also met today with Masoud Barzani at his office in the Pirmam district.

It was noted that regional developments were discussed during the meeting between Barrot and Barzani as well.

Mustafa Barzani’s letter

Jean-Noël Barrot presented Masoud Barzani with a letter written by Kurdish leader Mustafa Barzani to General de Gaulle on July 3, 1967.

Barrot said, “A country’s national holiday sometimes resonates far beyond its borders and becomes a symbol of hope in the eyes of other nations.” The letter was found in the archives of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Barrot also stated after his meeting with Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, “France has always stood by the Kurdish people to ensure that their rights are respected, and it will continue to do so.”
