Kobanê Autonomous Administration delegation returns from Aleppo

A meeting was held on Thursday in Aleppo between the Kobanê administration delegation and the Aleppo Governorate delegation. After returning to Kobanê, the delegation spoke to ANHA about the meeting.

Delegation member Ebdulrehman Demir stated that the people of Kobanê closely followed the talks in Aleppo and said: “A language of reconciliation and dialogue came to the fore. We wanted to leave the past behind and open a new page. We want to govern Kobanê together and jointly manage its security and institutions.”

Mizgîn Xelîl made the following assessment regarding the meeting: “We went to Aleppo upon the invitation of the Aleppo Governorate, acting under the Syrian government in Damascus. After the agreement reached on January 30, one of its articles stipulated that Kobanê would, in terms of its administration and security system, be linked to the Aleppo Governorate under its previous status. For this reason, we went to the Aleppo Governorate for the first time to resolve issues and problems.”

Mizgîn continued: “At present, the military forces affiliated with the Damascus government that are stationed in many rural areas of Kobanê must withdraw from the region so that displaced residents of Kobanê can return to their villages safely. In addition, siege conditions, daily needs, and vital issues such as water and electricity, along with many other problems, were raised. We emphasized that the divisions experienced in Syria should make it possible to view internal differences as a richness, to protect them further, and to enable a peaceful life free from hostility, war, conflict, and chaos.”
