On January 6, a woman died under suspicious circumstances in the Quştepe district of Erbil (Hewlêr).
On January 7, in Duhok, a 14-year-old girl named Înas Îsa died in a suspicious fire after allegedly being threatened by a school administrator.
On January 24, in Kirkuk, a 38-year-old woman identified as “H-Y,” a mother of three, was seriously injured after being attacked with acid by the man she was married to.
In South Kurdistan, dozens of women are killed every year due to the non-implementation of laws and the practice of seeking reconciliation through the judiciary in cases of violence against women. Last year, 51 women were killed or died under suspicious circumstances.”
