The Women’s Coordination of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Euphrates Canton issued a written statement regarding the siege imposed on Kobanê.
The statement said that attacks by gangs affiliated with the interim government have led to brutal acts against the population, especially women, and emphasized that these acts are being committed against women who have sacrificed themselves heroically against terrorism and who play a vital role in protecting society and human values.
The statement recalled that Kobanê has been under a heavy siege for the past 14 days, with electricity, water, and internet cut off, and that basic needs, food, fuel, and baby formula can no longer be obtained. It also drew attention to the fact that the lives of tens of thousands of people, especially children, are in danger.
The Coordination noted that approximately 600,000 people live in Kobane and pointed out that the population is facing severe obstacles and hardships.
The Women’s Coordination called on the international community and humanitarian and legal organizations to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities, end the siege, and open a corridor for the passage of humanitarian aid.
Emphasizing that women have taken on major responsibilities in protecting achievements and rights, the Coordination called on the people to strengthen their solidarity against all obstacles.
