ILPS Europe stands in solidarity with the people of Rojava

The International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS) in Europe expresses its steadfast solidarity with the people of Rojava who are resisting and defying the grave and escalating campaign of violence, displacement, and collective punishment being waged against them. “The attacks unfolding across northern and eastern Syria are the result of deliberate political and military decisions by regional powers and their imperialist backers, carried out in full disregard for civilian life, social coexistence, and the most basic principles of human dignity,” said ILPS Europe Regional Committee, which further stated the following:

“Kurdish communities, alongside other ethnic and religious groups, are being systematically targeted through military assaults, sieges, intimidation, and terror. This violence unfolds in the aftermath of the project of the US and its allies in the region to dismantle the Assad government and impose a pro-Western order, with Al-Jolani acting as a proxy figure enforcing that agenda on the ground.

Prior to Assad’s fall, the US treated the Kurds duplicitously as tactical allies against ISIS so they could secure their military presence and legitimacy in the region, contain the Kurdish revolution’s socialist orientation, and apply pressure on the Russia–Iran bloc. But the recent reports of massacres, the release of ISIS detainees, and widespread violence against civilians, particularly women, betrays the true character of the US-backed Al-Jolani–led puppet regime and the forces operating under its command. A large-scale massacre of the Kurdish population is looming, and the risk of further atrocities is immediate.

These attacks must also be understood as part of a broader regional strategy. The war against the people of Rojava represents a continuation of long-standing US-Zionist-Turkish cooperation, which has repeatedly relied on proxy forces and destabilization campaigns to exacerbate ethnic tensions, fragment peoples’ unities, weaken and destroy democratic resistance forces to control and impose its hegemonic interests across West Asia.

Even in recent years, from Nagorno-Karabakh to Syria, we have witnessed the same pattern of strategic coordination. Numerous comparable developments, together with ongoing economic, energy, and trade relations, demonstrate that claims of tension between Turkey and the Zionist entity of Israel are a deliberate fabrication, intended to mislead public opinion and undermine genuine popular resistance movements in the region. As openly admitted by Tom Barrack, a Trump-appointed ambassador and a key figure shaping US policy in West Asia, these supposed disputes between Turkey and the Zionist entity are “just rhetoric,” revealing a unified imperial strategy. Trump’s so-called “Board of Peace” brings these same powers together to coordinate domination and suppress peoples who resist occupation and imposed regional restructuring.

The use of public funds to finance this imperialist-backed puppet regime and its war against the Kurds makes European governments complicit in this unjust war. Granting diplomatic recognition, political legitimacy, or financial support while massacres and ethnic cleansing continue, is an act of open and blatant complicity. No funds, no cooperation, and no legitimacy must be extended to a regime that denies the rights, collective security, and the existence of Kurds, Alawites and other communities.

The international community must break its silence. There is no neutrality in the face of the ongoing massacres. We call on all freedom-loving people to stand in defense of Rojava against the imperialist instigated wars of aggression for the continuing plunder and destabilization of West Asia. We hail the heroism and bravery of the Kurdish peoples, especially the women defenders who are organizing militant resistance to protect their communities against imperialist-backed incursions into their territories!

The people of Rojava urgently need all forms of support and international solidarity as they courageously defy the violence unleashed on them by the US and their lackeys in the region!

Stop the attacks! Defend Rojava! Long live the Rojava peoples’ resistance! Long live the unity of the Kurdish people! Long live internatıonal solidarity!”
