The Democratic Syrian Council (MSD) issued a statement regarding the reconciliation reached between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian transitional government.
The statement noted that the MSD views the final reconciliation achieved between the Syrian transitional government and the SDF as a step taken amid a process marked by conflict. It stated that the aim of this reconciliation is to put an end to the fighting, prevent the onset of new chaos, and create the conditions for a new political process that requires addressing the root causes of the conflict.
The statement also emphasized that any political or security reconciliation can only be assessed to the extent that there is a genuine commitment to the protection of civilians, the safeguarding of Syrians’ civil and political rights, the safe and dignified return of displaced persons, and the preservation of civil peace and social stability.
The statement noted that recent events were resolved through dialogue and strongly condemned the attacks against the region.
In its statement, the MSD stressed that the current phase requires the restoration of trust among the components of the Syrian people. It emphasized the need to prevent incitement and chaos, strengthen Arab–Kurdish solidarity, and ensure that civilian and political forces play the role of real guarantors of unity and national stability, while avoiding a mentality of domination or foreign intervention.
The MSD underlined its continued commitment to Syria’s sovereignty and to the vision of its people, within the framework of maintaining its national and international relations that support stability in Syria, combating terrorism, and protecting rights and freedoms.
At the end of the statement, the MSD said that while this sensitive phase and its challenges continue, it will persist in its work based on its national political program. It emphasized that it assumes its historic responsibilities before the people and that what is happening in Syria today is not the end of the road, but rather an opportunity for transformation. It added that this opportunity requires all democratic forces to reassert their roles and respond to Syrians’ demands for freedom, dignity, justice, and democracy.
