Iraqi Ministry of Interior spokesperson Abbas Bedahil stated that the 218-kilometer-long border with Syria is highly secured and under control.
Abbas Bedahil noted that extraordinary security measures have been implemented along the border, including the digging of trenches, the establishment of checkpoints, the construction of observation towers, and the installation of barbed wire.
Stating that the Syrian border is being monitored with thermal cameras and unmanned aerial vehicles, Abbas Bedahil added: “So far, no violations have been recorded along the border. Border security has been established on three defense lines: the first line is managed by border guards, the second line by the Iraqi army, and the third line by the Hashd al-Shaabi forces.”
