As genocidal attacks by the Turkish state and HTS–ISIS gangs against the Kurds continue, residents are also taking up arms within the framework of the revolutionary people’s war to defend their neighborhoods, villages, and cities.
Women in the city of Dêrik, in the Cizîr Canton of North and East Syria, have armed themselves to defend their neighborhoods as part of self-defense. The women who came together and took up arms called on all women of Rojava to defend their neighborhoods and Rojava.
The women said: “Rojava was founded with the blood of our children, our spouses, and our siblings. Rojava is ours. Let the enemy not say ‘we will destroy Rojava’; as for us, we will protect Rojava. Long live the Kurds and Kurdistan.”
