Marion Böker calls on international institutions to act for Rojava

Marion Böker is a German women’s rights leader and human rights expert who served as the 16th President of the International Alliance of Women (IAW), traditionally the main international organization that campaigned for women’s suffrage.

In an interview with journalist Erem Kansoy, she said that “we need some UN action as well as action from the UN Security Council, from the UN Human Rights Council and all entities of the Council of Europe and European Parliament and European Commission to stop the war on Kurds.”

She added that “there must be security and protection measures implemented, maybe a UN mission, an international mission, to protect the people, especially women and girls. And there must be diplomatic communication with the Rojava people, including with the women in parity, 50% women, 50% men.”
