In a post on her X account on Monday, Ilham Ehmed, Spokesperson for the Foreign Relations Department of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES), said: “A ceasefire has been declared by the Damascus government, but it is not being implemented on the ground. What is happening in Kobanê amounts to genocide, and attacks on the Cizîrê regions are also continuing.”
Ehmed pointed out that the gap between official statements and the situation on the ground is widening, and added: “Any political process that does not include the protection of civilians remains nothing more than a political illusion. Silence in the face of these crimes is a moral collapse.”
Ilham Ehmed emphasized that the international community must assume its moral responsibility in the face of these events.
