The Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Euphrates Canton issued a statement vowing to organize its ranks and intensify resistance within the framework of general mobilization.
The statement on Sunday reads as follows:
“For more than a week, armed mercenary groups affiliated with the Damascus Government have continued their attacks on the countryside of Kobanê and have effectively besieged the region. This situation has led to severe shortages of basic necessities such as food, medicine, water, electricity, and fuel. Residents of several villages around Kobanê have been forcibly displaced, and homes have been destroyed and looted, resulting in a major humanitarian crisis that requires urgent intervention.
These attacks on our region coincide with the 11th anniversary of the liberation of the city of Kobanê from ISIS mercenaries. Through heroic resistance, the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) inflicted a major defeat on the mercenaries, marking the beginning of the effort to eliminate the most brutal terrorist organizations in the region and the world.
The city that fought terrorism on behalf of the entire world is under attack and siege today before the eyes of the world. This latest assault, no different from the ISIS attacks, once again confronts the international community with its moral duty and responsibility to intervene immediately.
In the face of this brutal war, our people continue their struggle with unshakable determination and heroism, in the spirit of the Kobanê resistance that defeated the most savage terrorist organization. With the same resolve that achieved that great victory, they are once again writing new chapters of resistance in the same city.
As the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Euphrates Canton, we condemn these attacks and the siege imposed on our regions. We declare that we will not abandon resistance and struggle until we achieve the goals of our revolution—freedom and a dignified life. Within the framework of general mobilization, we will organize our ranks and intensify resistance using all available means and opportunities.
We call on Kurds everywhere in Kurdistan and in the diaspora to support and join the resistance of the people of Rojava, because the war imposed on our region is a war of existence that will determine our destiny and future. We also call on the international community and humanitarian aid organizations to intervene urgently, lift the siege imposed on our regions, pressure the interim government to halt its attacks, and find a political solution to the current situation.”
