Cemîl Kobanê, a member of the General Command of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), made a statement at Martyr Egîd Square in the city of Kobanê.
Addressing a huge crowd in the square, commander Cemîl Kobanê spoke about the attacks on Rojava by the Turkish state, HTS and ISIS gangs and said that, like every people, the Kurdish people have now reached the time of freedom. He added: “Today, like every people and every nation, the time for freedom has arrived. Among peoples, the freedom of the Kurdish people will also be a precursor to the freedom of many minorities. Just as Kurds, Assyrians, Circassians and Armenians in Syria, in the world and in the Middle East have been subjected to denial and annihilation, the resistance of the Kurdish people will be a source of inspiration for all peoples who want to live freely. The struggle we are waging today is precisely this struggle; that is why we resist. What was the resistance we carried out from Deir Hafir to Deir ez-Zor for? Many of our friends and patriots do not fully grasp the retreat we have taken; they do not know its reality and truth. The international powers and their plans, and their orientation toward Syria, are related solely to this.”
Describing the genocidal attacks currently being carried out against Rojava as a continuation of the major conspiracies of the great powers in the Middle East, Cemîl Kobanê said: “Today, the great powers are trying to create a major state in the Middle East for themselves. Whether Kurdish, Arab or any other nation makes no difference. They do not recognize them; they do not recognize their will or their existence. They are trying to create a great state in the Middle East. As we have said before, unfortunately, many friends and many forces cannot fully comprehend this situation, which is a continuation of the conspiracy in the Middle East. That is why they do not act like us regarding resistance and revolution; they think in different ways. Some lean on foreign powers, others on certain local forces. In this way, they try to express their existence.”
Commander Kobanê said that the recent developments show once again that Kurds have no friends but themselves, and continued: “As we said, today there is an international conspiracy, and they are deaf, silent and blind to these attacks being carried out against peoples. They ignore peoples who are fighting for freedom. Yet they know very well that the forces fighting alongside us have always said, ‘Kurdish fighters are heroes, they are fighters.’ But today, because their interests are different, they remain silent, thoughtless, deaf and blind. As revolutionaries and comrades, we know very well that our true friend is ourselves. The friend of the Kurd is the Kurd himself. That is why the forces attacking the YPG and YPJ today are also weapons of this project.”

Stating that the war currently being waged against Rojava will not remain limited to Syria but will spread across the entire region, including Iran and Iraq, Cemîl Kobanê added that the war they have entered marks the beginning of the Third World War, and continued: “In the past there were ISIS, Al-Nusra and Ahrar al-Sham. They sold their will and surrendered to the interests of foreign powers. Today, they serve those powers like weapons to implement their projects; they act as their vanguard. This war will not be limited to Syria, Iraq and Iran. We must know very well that a very great war lies ahead of us. We define this as the Third World War. The war we have entered is a new beginning and has effectively begun within the framework of the Third World War between foreign powers and national forces.”
