The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has confirmed that four Kurdish citizens were killed during recent protests in Kermanshah on 8 January, amid an escalating crackdown by security forces.
Based on information obtained from informed sources, the four individuals, Mahna Dokoushkani, Meysam Karanian, Farzad Kheyrdar and Meysam Ghanbari Rad, were killed by gunfire from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
KHRN’s documentation shows that at least 70 Kurdish citizens have been killed during protests across various cities so far, based on cases whose identities and details have been verified. Of these, 24 killings have been recorded in Kermanshah alone.
However, evidence collected by KHRN indicates that the actual number of fatalities in the city, which is one of the main centres of widespread protests, is significantly higher. KHRN continues efforts to obtain reliable information about the repression carried out in Kermanshah.
According to multiple sources, the deadliest incidents in Kermanshah occurred on 8 January, when IRGC forces opened fire in several neighbourhoods, including Darreh Drezh, Nowbahar, Elahiyeh, Tagh-e Bostan Boulevard, and Rashidi. At least two informed individuals reported the transfer of no fewer than 70 bodies of protesters to Taleghani Hospital following the violence.
Mahna Dokoushkani, 18, was killed by IRGC gunfire on the evening of 8 January. Her body was returned to her family after about a week, and her funeral was held on 16 January at Bagh-e Ferdows Cemetery in Kermanshah.
Meysam Karanian was shot dead the same evening on Tagh-e Bostan Boulevard by IRGC forces. His funeral took place on 11 January in Dorudfaraman rural district in Kermanshah. He had married only days before his death.
Farzad Kheyrdar, a 37-year-old mechanical engineer, was also killed by IRGC gunfire during the protests that evening. As of publication, no information has been obtained regarding the return of his body or funeral arrangements.
Meysam Ghanbari Rad was likewise killed by IRGC gunfire during the Kermanshah protests on 8 January.
