Violations by Damascus-affiliated factions of the ceasefire agreement in Cizire and Kobani regions

Despite the ceasefire agreement entering into force, Damascus-affiliated factions have continued their attacks on the Cizire and Kobani regions, in a clear and explicit violation of the terms of the agreement.

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reported a series of attacks after the ceasefire came into effect as of 8:00 PM yesterday, which are as follows:

08:10 PM yesterday:

Damascus-affiliated factions shelled the town of Zirkan, north of Hasakah, with heavy artillery. The shelling continued for more than an hour.

08:20 PM yesterday:

Damascus-affiliated factions launched an attack using heavy weapons on the village of Tal Baroud, located on the Abyad–Abyad road, south of Hasakah.

11:30 AM today:

Damascus-affiliated factions attacked our forces in the vicinity of the city of Sarrin. Our forces confronted the attack and thwarted it.

11:45 AM today:

A convoy belonging to Damascus-affiliated factions attacked our forces in the village of Basel on the Abyad–Abyad road, south of Hasakah.

02:10 PM today:

Damascus-affiliated factions launched a second attack on our forces in the vicinity of the city of Sarrin, south of Kobani. Our forces successfully repelled the attack.

02:45 PM today:

Damascus-affiliated factions shelled the village of Hamdoun, south of Kobani, with heavy weapons, resulting in the martyrdom of a woman.

SDF affirmed their commitment to the ceasefire agreement and to avoiding escalation, saying: “We call on the guarantor parties and the international community to assume their responsibilities and to monitor these violations in a manner that ensures the protection of civilians and the preservation of stability in the region.”
