The campaign, launched under the leadership of the Swiss Kurdish Women’s Union (YJK-S), aims to submit the collected signatures to the Swiss Federal Parliament. The campaign warns that hosting Ahmed al-Sharaa (al-Jolani) in Davos would legitimize war crimes and policies of violence.
The campaign text includes a clear call and states: “No to war criminals at the World Economic Forum (WEF)— block Jolani from entering Switzerland.”
A statement released by YJK-S recalled that forces led by al-Jolani have launched a large-scale military offensive against the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. The statement said clashes are continuing along a front stretching more than 300 kilometers and underlined that the Autonomous Administration has declared general mobilization in response to the attacks.
The statement warned that the war being waged is targeting the existence and hard-won gains of the peoples of the region and noted that numerous war crimes have been committed under the rule of al-Jolani.
The campaign text includes the following call: “In light of this military escalation and the war crimes committed under the administration of al-Jolani, his entry into Switzerland must be prevented. His participation in the WEF would amount to the international legitimization of a regime built on violence and war.”
The campaign also called on Swiss authorities to act, stressing that the WEF, which presents itself as a platform committed to human rights, international law, and women’s freedom, should not provide space for figures associated with war crimes.
