The Eastern Kurdistan Defense Units (YRK) Command and the Eastern Kurdistan Women’s Defense Forces (HPJ) issued a statement regarding the attacks on Rojava Kurdistan.
The YRK and HPJ called on everyone to join the mobilization to defend Rojava Kurdistan, stating the following:
“Militias affiliated with the Syrian and Turkish states launched a widespread attack against our people in Rojava Kurdistan with the support of regional and international powers. The aim of these attacks is to eliminate the gains of the Kurdish people, achieved with the blood of martyrs and resistance across Kurdistan. Rojava is the national value, freedom, and democracy of the Kurdish people, all women, and those seeking freedom in the Middle East. Therefore, supporting the people and Rojava Kurdistan is a moral duty.
While Iranian state forces are currently committing massacres against the people of Eastern Kurdistan and Iran, and while the Kurdish and Iranian peoples are waging an unprecedented struggle for freedom, Western Kurdistan once again represents the entire Kurdish people. Everyone must stand up for it with a national stance and join the struggle and resistance of Rojava.
Just as the youth of Eastern Kurdistan joined the historic resistance and hundreds of young people were martyred during the attacks carried out by ISIS on Kobanê and Shengal, the same stance must be taken today. We, as the Eastern Kurdistan Defense Units (YRK) and the Eastern Kurdistan Women’s Defense Forces (HPJ), are ready to join the battle and resistance in Western Kurdistan.
All our people, especially the youth and women, should join the fight and national resistance in Rojava Kurdistan in the spirit of the ‘Jin Jiyan Azadî’ [Woman, Life, Freedom] revolution and the slogan “Protecting Rojava is protecting Kurdistan.”
