While ISIS and HTS militias and the occupying Turkish state continue their attacks on Rojava unabated, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani issued a statement, saying: “We in the Kurdistan Region are watching with great concern the continuation of clashes and military confrontations between the forces of the Syrian army and the SDF. The continuation of the fighting and clashes poses a serious threat to the stability and security of Syria and the region as a whole, and raises the threat of a resurgence of ISIS.
Remarking that war and military confrontation do not solve any problems and only complicate the situation, Barzani stated: “We call on the international coalition to fulfill its duty in protecting stability and preventing the resurgence of ISIS. We also reiterate our readiness to offer all cooperation and assistance to stop the fighting and achieve a ceasefire and an agreement. We stress that the rights of the Kurds and all components in Syria must be protected and guaranteed in the future Syrian constitution.”
