The Autonomous Administration of Cizîrê Canton has announced its full participation in the general mobilization. In light of the attacks on northern and eastern Syria, it called on the people to actively participate in the collective defense to protect the region, its society, and democratic achievements. “Even though we advocate for peace, we emphasize that without self-defense, true peace is not possible.”
The declaration referred to 13 years of democratic self-government in northern and eastern Syria, supported by the various population groups in the region, and emphasized that this shared history is characterized by resistance, collective responsibility, and the pursuit of social justice, and reaffirmed its claim to actively participate in shaping any solution in Syria.
“We believe in dialogue as a strategic option. A democratic and decentralized solution is a prerequisite for sustainable peace, stability, and the guarantee of the rights of all population groups,” said the Autonomous Administration, which at the same time warned of the consequences of violent escalation by the regime in Damascus or external actors: “If war is forced upon us or our rights and our existence are attacked, we will exercise our legitimate right to self-defense by all means. Our forces are ready to counter any threat that jeopardizes our security.”
The Autonomous Administration of Cizîrê Canton placed particular emphasis on the non-negotiable nature of the constitutional rights of all population groups in Syria: “These rights are fundamental, inviolable, and must not be denied or made the subject of political negotiations.” It also reaffirmed its commitment to equality, plurality, and liberal coexistence: “We—Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, and other population groups—have lived together in this region for centuries. Our future is a shared one. The blood of our martyrs has mingled on this soil. Our unity is our strength.” Finally, the Autonomous Administration announced that it would continue general mobilization until security and stability were restored in the region.
