Call for rally in front of the White House to protest attacks on Aleppo’s Kurdish neighborhoods

The US Mission of the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) is calling for a rally in front of the White House in Washington, D.C., the official residence and office of the US president, on Friday morning at 11 a.m. local time. On the north side, near Lafayette Park, protesters will protest against the brutal attacks on the Kurdish neighborhoods Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah in Aleppo and call upon the US government and the international community to defend the Kurds.

“We will call on the White House to uphold its alliance with Syrian Kurds, and ensure full protection for civilians and essential service and humanitarian facilities, in accordance with international humanitarian law. We demand the launch of an independent, transparent international investigation into all violations and massacres committed, with full accountability for all political and military actors responsible. We will call on the United States to ensure the safe and dignified return of displaced persons, providing fair compensation to those affected, and initiating the reconstruction of damaged areas. And we ask for the United States to continue to support the agreements of March 10 as a foundation for any dialogue, and resume serious negotiations within a comprehensive intra-Syrian framework, free from coercion, imposition, or subjugation. We call for a democratic, federal system that respects local governance,” said the US Mission of the Syrian Democratic Council.

“We call for One Syria, unified, with respect for all Syrians – Kurdish, Arab, Syriac Christian, Alaawite, Druze, Yazidi, Armenian, Turkmen, and for all Syrians,” the MSD statement underlined.

The MSD Mission asked those participating in the protest to “bring banners, flags, and posters to show your support for Rojava. Dress appropriately for the weather and bring water. Please contact office@syriandemocraticcouncil.us.”
