The mercenary groups Al-Amshat, Furqat al-Hamza, Sultan Murad Brigade, and the Nureddin al-Zenki, affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government and supported by the occupying Turkish state, continue their attacks on the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafiyah and Beni Zeyd in Aleppo for the fourth day. The humanitarian situation in the region is deteriorating by the hour due to the attacks, which involve the use of heavy weapons.
The People’s Council of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah neighborhoods announced on Friday that they had decided to remain in their neighborhoods and continue their defense against the calls for surrender by mercenary groups affiliated with the Interim Government.
The Kurdish Red Crescent Heyva Sor a Kurd, in an urgent humanitarian appeal from its headquarters in the city of Hesekê in the Cizirê Canton, warned that the humanitarian situation in the mentioned neighborhoods of Aleppo had reached a critical level. The organization reported that dozens of civilians, including women, the elderly, and children, had been killed and over a hundred civilians wounded as a result of four days of continuous bombardment.
Heyva Sor a Kurd Co-Chairs Hediye Ebdullah and Dilgeş Isa, who read out a press statement in Arabic and Kurdish, emphasized that the attacks targeted civilian residential areas and essential service facilities, leading to a humanitarian disaster. The statement noted that medicines, medical supplies, and basic necessities are running out, particularly in healthcare centers and hospitals.
Heyva Sor a Kurd stated that the forces involved in the ongoing attack have not allowed any medical or humanitarian organizations to enter the area to evacuate wounded civilians. The organization emphasized that these actions constitute a clear violation of human rights conventions and international humanitarian law.
The Kurdish Red Crescent called on all relevant international and local parties to fulfill their moral and humanitarian responsibilities, demanding an immediate halt to attacks targeting civilians and the opening of safe humanitarian corridors.
Heyva Sor a Kurd announced that it is ready to enter neighborhoods to evacuate the wounded residents and deliver emergency humanitarian aid, provided that a humanitarian corridor is established.
Following the announcement, a medical aid convoy consisting of 15 vehicles set off for Aleppo.
