At 3:34 a.m on January 7, a shell fired by militias hit the home of Hesen Mihemed Hesen in the Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood in western Aleppo. The house collapsed on top of the family of six, most of whom were children.
Family members were trapped under the rubble for around 16 hours, and neighborhood residents were unable to help them due to continuous bombardment.
While local residents and rescue teams managed to pull the children out from under the rubble, the father, Hesen Mihemed Hesen (42), lost his life.
Cemal Kilê, a neighborhood resident who participated in the rescue efforts, said, “We could hear the children’s voices under the rubble, but we couldn’t get close to the building due to the intense bombardment. Every time we tried to advance, bullets rained down on us.”
Cemal Kilê stated that the hours-long, uninterrupted bombardment forced local residents to wait until the bombing stopped, and that they were finally able to retrieve those injured and the body of the father.
According to current data, 75 civilians were killed or wounded in attacks by mercenary groups affiliated with the Damascus regime, which is directly supported by the Turkish state.
There are concerns that the toll could be much higher. Information and images are coming in about civilians being brutally executed in the Ashrafiya neighborhood.
