YPJ: If the attacks continue and our people request our protection, we are fully prepared to fight

The General Command of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) released a statement strongly condemning the ongoing brutal attacks on the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, which have continued for the past three days and have resulted in the martyrdom and injury of dozens of civilians.

“Throughout the history of the Revolutionary People’s War, the resistance of the people of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh stands as a symbol of honor and dignity. The steadfast residents have refused to submit to the mercenaries of the transitional government and have demanded, with all their strength, the establishment of security and stability,” YPJ noted.

The statement continued: “Alongside these attacks, gangs affiliated with the Turkish state and factions of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham have launched a propaganda campaign on social media platforms, falsely claiming that a number of fighters from the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) and the People’s Protection Units (YPG) were captured during the battles in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh. These claims are completely baseless. We affirm that our forces have absolutely no involvement in what is currently taking place in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh.”

“Nevertheless, should these attacks continue in this manner, and should our people request our protection, we, as the Women’s Protection Units, are fully prepared to fight—not only for Aleppo, but for the protection of the Syrian people as a whole,” YPJ underlined.

The statement concluded: “We salute the steadfastness of the people of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, extend our condolences to the families of the martyrs, and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded.”
