The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) said in a statement that women political prisoners, including Warisha Moradi and Zeinab Celaliyan, will start a hunger strike simultaneously with the general strike planned across Kurdistan.
Hunger strike in solidarity with general strike in Iran
According to the KHRN, Warisha Moradi, Zeinab Celaliyan, Sekîne Pervane, Metleb Ahmediyan and Parîsa Kemali, who are imprisoned in various Iranian cities, will support the general strike by going on a hunger strike. The association added that the hunger strike is intended as a protest against current conditions and an act of solidarity with the general strike, and stressed that there is not yet clear information regarding the duration of the hunger strike or how prison administration will respond to this action.
Calls for general strike are spreading
It was reported that following the recent protests in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan, calls for a general strike continue to spread widely, with markets closing in some cities and some business owners suspending their activities.
