Mercenary armed groups linked to the Turkish state and the transitional government are continuing their assaults on the Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafiyah and Beni Zeyd neighborhoods of Aleppo using mortars, howitzers, and tanks.
The attacks are being carried out mainly by the Turkish state–backed armed groups Hemzat, Emşat, Sultan Murad, and Nureddin Zengi.
The Aleppo Internal Security Forces stated that they responded to the attacks within the framework of their right to legitimate self-defense, prevented the armed groups from entering the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, and forced them to retreat after inflicting heavy losses.
According to information obtained by ANHA, 7 people, almost all civilians, were killed in the attacks, and at least 46 people, including many children, were wounded.
Among the casualties, Sabri Mihemed Ebdulqadir, a member of the Aleppo Internal Security Forces, was killed while responding to the attacks, and six other internal security members were wounded.
As a result of the attacks, significant damage was inflicted on civilians’ homes, places of worship, and service institutions.
In the neighborhoods, already under siege, the humanitarian crisis is deepening due to the ongoing assaults.
On Tuesday, people across North and East Syria took to the streets to condemn the attacks and express their support for the resistance in Aleppo. Protest actions are expected to continue this Wednesday as well.
