The Democratic Union Party (PYD) announced in a written statement that it is following with great concern the systematic violations, irresponsible actions, and brutal methods of groups affiliated with the Syrian Transitional Government in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah neighborhoods of Aleppo. According to latest reports from the group, increasingly ongoing attacks on the two Kurdish-dominated neighborhoods have killed three civilians and injured 17 others today.
The statement on Tuesday emphasized that the systematic massacres and forced displacement policies implemented by these groups constitute a continuation of targeted attacks against the Kurdish people and attempts to bring about demographic change.
PYD underlined that the intensification of the siege imposed by the transitional government has directly deepened humanitarian crises, with serious shortages in access to basic food, daily necessities, and financial resources. The party stated that this situation has turned into an open humanitarian disaster that particularly affects children, women, and the elderly.
The Democratic Union Party called on all legal, judicial, and humanitarian organizations to fulfill their moral and legal responsibilities, take action, and protect the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah in the face of the violations committed there. PYD condemned the Syrian Transitional Government for not ending the siege on the area.
Emphasizing that continuing the dialogue process is a fundamental choice, the PYD remarked that implementing the March 10 Agreement is the most appropriate path to a solution and called for adherence to the April 1 Agreement.
