The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria issued a written statement regarding the current situation in Syria.
The statement emphasized that the sensitive phase the country is going through must be handled with a responsible approach, highlighting the importance of protecting internal peace and public rights.
The Autonomous Administration noted that all Syrians, without discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation, have the right to peacefully express their views, organize demonstrations, and participate in political life. It stressed that these rights are legitimate and should not be criminalized or violated.
The statement further underlined that demands to participate in public spaces and governance processes constitute a fundamental national right, and that such demands should be addressed through responsible political consensus rather than divisive rhetoric.
It emphasized that the Alawite community is an inseparable part of Syrian society, noting that Alawites have suffered for decades under the policies of a despotic regime. The statement underlined that unresolved issues from the past cannot be addressed by reviving old conflicts or blaming social groups.
Drawing attention to attempts by certain individuals or groups to re-emerge by linking themselves to the former regime (Baath) or its oppressive legacy, the statement said that using peaceful demonstrations for such purposes does not serve the demands of the Syrian people.
The statement said: “This approach does not serve the demands of the Syrian people and does not align with the requirements of the current process. Overcoming this persistent mindset is a fundamental prerequisite for a transition to a just and stable Syria.”
In conclusion, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria emphasized that its political approach is shaped by the principles of building a democracy-based state, free citizenship, accountability, the rule of law, respect for pluralism, and rejection of hate speech.
