Syrian Initiative calls for freedom of Öcalan

The Syrian Initiative for Freedom for Leader Abdullah Öcalan made a statement in the Tabqa Canton.

The statement, delivered by Initiative Spokesperson Hisên El Dixeyim, was read in front of the headquarters of the Syria Future Party with the participation of initiative members.

The statement emphasized that the continuation of Öcalan’s imprisonment constitutes an international, and a crime against humanity, saying: “Leader Abdullah Öcalan has initiated a strategic vision and a political and ideological project. He has offered unconventional solutions to many regional and global problems.”

The statement added that Öcalan had transformed the cell in which he is held in isolation into a source of knowledge, ideas, and learning, as well as a space for free expression.

The Initiative called on international, civil, and human rights organizations to make Öcalan’s case an international, humanitarian, and human rights issue, and to pressure the Turkish state to ensure his physical freedom.
