Imrali delegation meets with Kurtulmuş: The process requires legal guarantees and public support

Members of the DEM Party Imrali Delegation, Pervin Buldan, Mithat Sancar, and Faik Özgür Erol, held a meeting with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş. Following the meeting in Ankara on Tuesday, the delegation made a statement in front of Parliament and said that the meeting was productive and sincere.

Sancar: The joint report is scheduled to be completed in early January

Mithat Sancar remarked that the establishment of a commission in Parliament is of historic importance, emphasizing that bringing the peace process to Parliament will yield important results in terms of democratic legitimacy, participation, transparency, and assurance.

Sancar stated that the joint report reached the drafting stage and is scheduled to be completed in early January. Noting that the process requires both legal guarantees and public support, Sancar emphasized that a fair and equitable legal system is necessary not only for the process but for society as a whole. He stressed that peace is a vital necessity for Turkey as a whole, particularly regarding the Kurdish issue, and for the Middle East, adding that these topics were discussed comprehensively during the meeting.

Buldan: It is very important that the parliament claims this process

Pervin Buldan pointed out the importance of political will reaching a common accord for the process to proceed smoothly, saying, “It is very important for us and for the process that a high authority, namely the parliament, claims this process.” Buldan thanked Numan Kurtulmuş for the constructive role he assumed as commission chairman and for his commitment to the process.

Buldan added that the meeting, which also exchanged views on the completion of the commission’s work in mid-January, was positive.
