Mehşîd Nazemî, the sister of Duran Nazemî, who was detained during a memorial ceremony held on 12 December for Xosro Ali Kurdi, shared a message about the situation of those who were detained.
Nazemî stated that the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence sent messages to the families of some activists detained at the memorial ceremony for Xosro Ali Kurdi, telling them that “if they refrain from providing information to the media and remain silent, the detainees will be released.”
She also reported that the Ministry of Intelligence told them that the detained women activists were being held in solitary confinement, that their health conditions were good, and that they were receiving some medication.
However, Mehşîd Nazemî said that relatives of the detainees are skeptical of these claims, questioning why they are not allowed to contact them and, if their condition is good, what kinds of medications they are supposedly taking.
Mehşîd Nazemî said: “The detained women, Teybe Nezerî, Aliye Mutalibzade, Puran Nazemî, and Nergis Mohammadi, have health problems and require special medical treatment. This increases concerns. Iran is responsible for the health and safety of the detainees.”
The body of Kurdish lawyer Xosro Ali Kurdi (46) was found in his office two weeks ago. His family stated that Iranian state forces confiscated all security camera footage from his office.
Many activists who attended Xosro Ali Kurdi’s funeral, including Nobel Peace Prize laureate Nergis Mohammadi, were detained. Their whereabouts remain unknown.
