The Kurdistan Human Rights Network announced that Kurdish political prisoner Wehid Ömer, from the village of Horhore in the Selmas district of Urmia, Eastern Kurdistan, lost his life due to being prevented from accessing medical care in Selmas prison.
The statement noted that although Wehid Ömer suffered a stroke in prison, he was not transferred to a hospital. His condition deteriorated due to the lack of necessary medical intervention, ultimately leading to his death. It was reported that the family intends to file a lawsuit against the prison authorities for negligence.
This incident marks the second case within a week in which Kurdish detainees have died as a result of being denied access to medical treatment in prisons affiliated with the Iranian regime.
