ISIG: 216 workers died in “workplace killings” in Turkey in November

According to the Occupational Health and Safety Observatory’s (ISIG) report, at least 216 workers lost their lives in “workplace killings” in November.

The report said that 197 of those who died were men, 19 were women, and 13 were children. Twelve of the deceased workers were migrants.

Deaths by sector were listed as follows:

71% construction,

34% agriculture–forestry,

31% transportation,

14% office–commerce,

12% mining.

As for the causes of death, the leading ones were falls from height (24%), being crushed or trapped (20%), and traffic accidents (18%).

The report emphasized that the highest number of workplace deaths in November occurred in Istanbul.
