Pervin Buldan: We will move with more confident steps toward building a democratic Turkey

The National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission, established in Parliament to work toward a solution to the Kurdish question, decided in its 18th meeting to hold talks with Abdullah Öcalan. The decision, passed by a majority vote of the Commission’s members, has been interpreted as a new phase in the solution process.

In a statement regarding the Commission’s decision, DEM Party Imrali Delegation member Pervin Buldan called the development “a historic step.”

Buldan said, “With this decision, we will walk with more confident steps toward resolving the Kurdish question and building a democratic Turkey.”

Buldan also thanked the political actors who contributed to the process. In her statement, she said: “I thank President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who played a major role in the Commission’s work and in reaching this decision; MHP Chair Devlet Bahçeli, who broke established patterns; TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş for his constructive stance; and all political party leaders and commission-member MPs who contributed to the decision.”
