The sentence of 3 years and 6 months in prison, previously issued by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court against Tehran-based blogger Donya Hosseini, was upheld by Branch 36 of the Tehran Provincial Court of Appeals.
The blogger is known by the pen name Donya Azad and has been sentenced on the charge of “propaganda against the regime with the aim of strengthening the Israeli regime”,
Donya Hosseini was detained on June 26 during a raid by Iranian security forces on her home in Tehran and was subsequently transferred to Evin Prison. After the arrest, authorities sealed off her home. She was later released temporarily on August 12 on a bail of 3 billion tomans.
On August 21, 2023, Donya Hosseini was also detained, and some of her electronic devices and handwritten materials were confiscated. That same year, in a separate case, she was sentenced to a suspended prison term of 5 years and a monetary fine.
