After meeting with Masoud Barzani, SDF General Commander Mazlum Abdi also met with Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, stating that national unity is necessary to protect the rights of the Kurdish people in Syria.
The statement released by the Kurdistan Region Presidency regarding the meeting included the following: “The meeting discussed the Kurdish issue in Syria and other current developments. Talks between the SDF and Damascus, terrorist threats, and the ongoing fight against ISIS were also addressed.”
The statement further noted that Nechirvan Barzani emphasized the need for unity among Kurdish parties and for resolving issues through dialogue and mutual understanding in order to protect the rights of the Kurdish people in Syria.
According to the Presidency’s statement, SDF General Commander Mazlum Abdi also thanked Nechirvan Barzani for his support for the rights of the Kurdish people in Syria and for his efforts toward resolving problems with Damascus.
