SDF: Abdullah, Piro, Renas and Rûmet became symbols of resistance

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Press Center paid tribute to four of his fighters who fell as martyrs.

The statement said: “We commemorate our four comrades, who fell as martyrs in different phases of our struggle, with respect and pride. Until the very last moment of their lives, they fought with extraordinary dedication. They sacrificed themselves for their people in the fight against mercenaries and occupiers.

ABDULLAH AFRIN: Our heroic comrade Abdullah Afrin (Basil Qasım) was a living example of true patriotism, especially in Afrin, the city for which he fought until the very end. His devotion was not merely a duty but a sincere expression of his deep love for the land where he was raised. With unwavering loyalty, he dedicated himself to his homeland and refused to allow his country to fall under the occupation of mercenaries. Until his final breath, he remained committed to the values of patriotism. With a heart full of faith in his homeland, he became a living, unmatched hero in the hearts of his people, sacrificing his life and watering the soil he loved with his pure blood.

Our comrade Abdullah had been with us for many years. His loyalty enabled him to make remarkable progress in gaining military experience and building strong camaraderie. In every operation he took part in, he achieved notable success.

He leaves behind an extraordinary national legacy that will guide our work and our struggle. His sacrifice, born from a heart that loved his homeland to the very end, will remain in the memory of our people as a hero and as a symbol of the Afrin (Efrin) resistance.

PIRO MORDEM: Our comrade Piro Mordem (Nîmet Yıldız) came from a deeply patriotic family known for its unwavering commitment to the values of struggle and genuine patriotism for decades. Throughout the history of our revolutionary forces, his family has sacrificed many martyrs, becoming an essential part of its proud legacy. From this profound national heritage, Mordem drew the revolutionary principles and ideas he carried since childhood, learning all sacred values from his family and community.

This deep-rooted patriotism led him to join the revolutionary movement and our forces, where he embodied the values he grew up with through his participation in many military operations. He fought with extraordinary courage and unmatched heroism. As a commander, he took on major responsibilities in leading his units and worked tirelessly to protect them from enemy attacks.

Our comrade Mordem was not only a military commander but also a respected intellectual and political figure. His political and intellectual stance led to his arrest at various times. His advanced awareness enabled him to contribute to a growing sense of cultural and political consciousness among his comrades. He valued his friends deeply and earned the affection of all through his respectful and dignified manner.

RÊNAS AMED: Our comrade Rênas Amed (Murad Atiş) was among the earliest members of our forces. He joined from Europe, coming from a revolutionary family that had been part of the struggle from the very beginning and that had honorably sacrificed its life for the Kurdish cause.

During his years within our forces, Rênas served in many regions, gained a wide range of experience, and achieved significant victories for his people. He was known for his wisdom and patience. He never made impulsive decisions; instead, he carefully evaluated every angle and every possibility before acting, and he struck effective blows against the enemy with confidence and consistency on the battlefield.

Comrade Rênas was not only a military commander but also an exceptionally skilled trainer with extensive experience across various fields of education. He was known for his creativity and innovation in developing new combat methods and tactics for maneuvers, raids, and all other aspects of military operations.

Despite being wounded twice in Afrin and in other areas during previous battles, Rênas continued his struggle. He remained determined to join subsequent military operations on behalf of our forces. He took part in the Martyr Rubar Qamishlo operation and in the liberation of Raqqa (Reqa) from the terrorist organization ISIS, becoming an effective and decisive commander who helped secure victory against terror and strengthen the protection of all components of the people of Rojava.

RUMET ÇÎLO: Our comrade Rumet Çîlo (Mihemed Bilal) displayed historic resistance against the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries during the invasion of the Afrin region. Moving from one frontline to another, he fought with extraordinary courage until he fell as a martyr in the district of Shera, where he confronted the occupiers and their mercenary forces.

When Rumet realized that his national duty called him to defend his land and his people, he did not hesitate to join our forces. By doing so, he demonstrated a patriotic stance toward the cause and the suffering of his people. He showed this same love and determination in his work, and he was also appreciated for his commitment to our forces’ rules and organizational principles, becoming an example of discipline and dedication in the struggle.

The memory and sacrifice of our comrades Abdullah, Piro, Rênas, and Rumet will remain a guiding principle for our forces and our people on this path. Their legacy will continue to shape how we defend our land and our society.

We offer our condolences to the families of our four martyrs and to all the families of martyrs. Drawing strength from their memory, we renew our pledge to continue our journey toward a country where security and peace prevail.”
