Human rights violations by the Iranian state against Kurdish women are increasing day by day. It has been reported that the health condition of Zeynab Jalalian, who has been in prison for many years, has reached a critical stage.
According to information shared by the Kurdish and Iranian Human Rights Monitoring Center, Zeynab Jalalian’s health has seriously deteriorated and her condition is now life-threatening. Despite repeated warnings, the authorities have neither provided her with necessary medical services nor allowed her to see a doctor.
The same source reported that after undergoing surgery recently, Jalalian was returned to prison just 24 hours later, before her treatment was completed. Due to the lack of adequate food, medicine, and medical facilities in prison, her health continues to worsen every day.
Zeynab Jalalian was arrested in Kirmaşan in 2007 without any judicial warrant. On 25 February, she was sentenced to death on charges of “acting against national security” and “waging war against God (moharebeh).” However, the appeals court later commuted her sentence to life imprisonment.
