Mahnoush Abdollahi, a civil activist living in Shiraz, had been sentenced by Branch 1 of the Shiraz Revolutionary Court to five years in prison on charges of “engaging in cultural and media activities in support of Israel during the 12-day war” and one year in prison for “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran on digital media.” The Fars Court of Appeals ruled to reduce the total sentence to two years and suspend its execution for six years.
With this decision, the Court of Appeals reduced the five-year sentence for “supporting Israel during the 12-day war” to three years.
The court upheld the one-year sentence issued by the local court for “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran.” In addition, the two-year prison sentence for “insulting sacred values” was suspended.
As a result of the ruling, the three-year prison sentence against Mahnoush Abdollahi has been upheld, but its execution postponed for six years. According to the method of sentence combination, the heaviest sentence, two years in prison, will be served first.
Mahnoush Abdollahi, 42, was arrested in Shiraz on July 2, 2025, and released on July 23, 2025, after being held in Adelabad Prison on bail of 2.5 billion tomans.
