Forough Khosravi, a primary school teacher living in the city of Behbahan in Iran’s Khuzestan province on five separate charges, including anti-state propaganda and insulting religion.
According to the verdict issued by Branch 1 of the Behbahan Revolutionary Court, Khosravi was tried on charges of “conducting propaganda against the state,” “insulting Ali Khamenei,” “insulting Khomeini,” “insulting religion,” and “maintaining relations with media outlets linked to Israel.”
Under Article 134 of the Iranian Islamic Penal Code, the most severe sentence, five years in prison, will be enforced.
Khosravi’s trial took place on 2 November, and the verdict was officially delivered to her on 3 November.
Teacher Forough Khosravi was first detained on 30 June 2024, after six Intelligence agents from the Revolutionary Guards, including two women, raided her home. During the raid, her house was searched, and her personal belongings and mobile phone were confiscated.
She was detained again on 29 July and released on August 8 from Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz after posting bail of 2 billion tomans.
On 21 September 2024, the Investigation Department of the Behbahan General and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office filed an indictment against her.
It was also reported that Forough Khosravi had been expelled from Bandar Imam Payam-e Nur University following the 2009 protests.
